Cycle Computing Announces Partnership with Canonical and University of Wisconsin at Paradyn/Condor Week 2010

APRIL 15, 2010

MADISON, WISCONSIN

WHAT: Jason Stowe, CEO of Cycle Computing, will be speaking at Paradyn/Condor Week 2010, to discuss customer implementations utilizing the University of Wisconsin’s Condor workload management system.

Cycle Computing, Canonical and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Condor Team will also announce their partnership to provide mutually beneficial resources to engineers. By utilizing the Ubuntu community-developed operating system in conjunction with the Condor open-source scheduler, a user-friendly interface will be available to perform compute-intensive calculations.

WHY: The University of Wisconsin-Madison Condor workload management system enables scientists and engineers to increase their computing throughput on distributively-owned resources, utilizing job queuing, scheduling and resource management tools. Cycle Computing has been working with the Condor Team for years to simplify deploying Condor on internal grids and in the cloud for customers.

In the new partnership, the Condor Team, Cycle Computing and Canonical will work together to bring Canonical’s Ubuntu operating system to the Condor scheduler for use by third-party users. The offering will combine the batch system benefits of Condor and the secure operating system of Ubuntu. CycleServer Management Tools for these Condor environments will be available from Cycle's Website.
