What is Utility Supercomputing?
Utility Supercomputing is the on-demand creation and use of high performance compute environments equivalent to those on the Top 500 Supercomputer list, as a metered, pay for use service. Our CycleCloud product is the world’s first and leading Utility Supercomputing software, having created over 2,700 HPC environments in the cloud since 2007.
As an example, take scientists with 5 years of historical proteomics data that they cannot re-analyze with a new, innovative algorithm because it would take years on their internal, fixed-size compute cluster. Using utility supercomputing, the researcher can create a 30,000-core CycleCloud cluster or larger, and instead get results back in 8 hours at a cost of $10,000.
